Rescuing Kitty: A Guest Post by Rumpy Drummond

Despite having been ambushed on several occasions by a ferocious tomcat as a puppy, Brunella has decided to make an exception to her rule of her blog being a cat-free domain. This is so Rumpy(dog) Drummond can tell the moving story of sweet little Kitty.

Animal rescue can enrich your life in so many ways that you never imagined!
Last fall, a little kitty came into our yard and begged Jen for help.

What a sad sight!

He was skin and bones, with lots of fur missing.  We were not convinced he would live.
But he did.

This little guy was determined to live!

And now he has graduated to art work!  Here is one of his first creations.

Now THAT is a work of art!

Malachi, keep this up and one day you're gonna be famous!

Talk to the paw dude!

Chief Comforter and Canine Handkerchief

Missus and I finally got round to watching the movie 'Marley and Me' on the telly. There are four things I want to mention about this experience.
  1. It made me realise how well behaved I am compared to some dogs--this is an observation and not a boast (me being such a modest soul, of course).
  2. I not only got to have a movie-length snuggle up to Missus on the sofa during the day, but my coat nearly got worn out with her intense stroking.
  3. This is the first time I've ever seen Missus with tears rolling down her cheeks in front of the telly, because Marley's death reminded her of Jemma Labrador's departure from this world five years ago.
  4. It confirmed to me that caring owners are as devoted to their dog as their dogs are to them.
PS I don't mind being used as a handkerchief, as long as it doesn't delay my supper.

Oh hell! It's Lent...
forty days and nights
of biscuit scent
but no food by rights
as Mister and Missus repent.

Brunella Labrador's idea of a perfect Valentine meal for Missus & Mister

I've been planning a Labrador's idea of a perfect romantic dinner for Mister and Missus in the hope they'll share it with their poor, starving pooch.

Starter

Fat, extra large, juicy prawns with grated carrot on top and no seafood dressing. Plus, dog biscuits with butter spread on them, and a boiled egg.

Main course

Roast chicken, guinea fowl, roast quail, roast duck, roast turkey, roast lamb, roast everything, with giblet gravy on top. Plus sausages and a large variety of raw vegetables, including carrot, peas, sweet potatoes, sweet peppers, broccoli, and cauliflower.

Sweet

Bananas, pears, mangoes, apples, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, golden kiwi, and papaya. Served with sponge cake and goat's cream.

Cheese Board

Every variety of cheese in the world, served with dog biscuits spread with butter.

***
P.S. There's no way they'll give me any wine.

P.S.S. What they're actually eating is leftovers of roast lamb and vegetables mixed with a horrid mouth-burning chilli sauce, served with rice. I might just get a few scraps of unadulterated meat and grains of rice tossed into my bowl if I manage to keep all four paws on the floor.
